Price summary

Prices consolidated lower.

Market analysis

AA broiler

Prices of AA broiler fell as demand waned after the recent price hikes. Although the market recouped some losses before the week ended, average AA broiler price was 4.65% lower on-week.

Sales of chick shrank prominently as farmers were reluctant to procure day-old chicks that would reach finishing weight during the long holidays in early October. Prices plunged RMB 1.60-1.80/chick toRMB1.40-1.80/chick.

China breed broiler

With supplies inadequate, prices China breed broiler soared further. Nonetheless, low buying interest weighed on the prices of day-old chicks.

Market forecast

After the recent downward correction, AA broiler market is expected to rebound in the coming week. China breed broiler prices should consolidate aid slower demand.

Chick prices are seen soft as farmers will not be keen to have high inventories of finishing broilers during October.

RMB=US$0.1552 (Sep 8)
